In celebration of the great sounds that started in the heart of New Orleans, the historic town of Jackson, California is putting on their annual Jazzin’ It Up festival. This three block event gives visitors a glimpse into the beauty of music, painting and the great outdoors. In addition to the street performers and art show, there will also be open shops, fantastic food and wine tasting, giving visitors a variety of fun entertainment all in one night. Best of all, this is a free event so there is reason to miss it!
Organized by non-profit group, AmadorArts, this activity filled evening is sure to be the highlight of the summer. Participants should not view this festival as just a jazz filled affair, but instead, as an excuse to have a good time. There will be three stages set up throughout the Historic Downtown Jackson area, and bands will be playing a variety of tunes, including R&B, Country and Soul. Some of the local bands featured at the event will be Over the Edge and Leather Souls, plus there is sure to be a number of surprises to keep spectators on their toes. For anyone interested in the drinks, you may purchase a $20 commemorative wine glass, then sip samples from over 20 wineries whose booths will be marked with balloons at the event. And the delicious wine can also be matched nicely with the delectable delights of local restaurants and vendors.
Proceeds from Jazzin’ It Up will benefit the Arts Education program of AmadorArts. With the recent diminishing focus on the arts in local schools and communities, there are many towns like Jackson that are finding new ways to keep this important, enlightening subject in the hearts and minds of the community. This is especially beneficial to kids who should grow up with a well rounded view of the beauty around them. So come out to support the arts, have a good time and celebrate the joy of music!
