Amador County, home to Jackson in California, is home to a plethora of art and cultural events this November. If you’re in the area, don’t miss these celebrations of art and culture!
Art in the Park, November 5, Petkovich Park
Every first Saturday of the month from June to October, local artists and crafters come to Petkovich Park on Water and Broadway to feature their work. For more information, contact Dana Fink at (209)419-1258.
Veterans Day Parade, November 11, 8am-11am
This year Veteran’s Day happens to fall on 11/11/11, so come out to Jackson and celebrate! The annual Veteran’s Day parade will meet at 8am at Jackson Elementary School and organize until 10am when the parade starts. Following the parade, participants are invited ot brunch. Participants are encouraged to wear kilts and sashes in plaid style to show Amador how large the Celtic community is. The parade was revitalized in 2009 after a 20 year absence to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the American Legion Post and the 80th Anniversary of their Ambulance Service.
Amador Arts Winefest, November 12, Sutter Creek, 4:30pm-8pm
The 13th Annual Winefest promises to be an afternoon full of drinks, food and fun! Check in at the Sutter Creek Auditorium starting at 4:30pm to pick up your map and commemorative wine glass. You can also make a bid on the many items up for auction after the Winefest. The journey starts down historic Main Street. As you visit businesses, you’ll encounter many different tastings of Amador County with wines and appetizers. At 7pm when shops close, return to the auditorium for desserts, wines and the silent auction. You can bid on artworks, wine, and much more at this event! Buy your tickets now as only 350 tickets total will be sold to this popular event! Advance tickets are $25 here, and can be picked up at will-call. Tickets at the door are $30. Proceeds will benefit the Amador Arts programs, which encourage arts in Amador County schools, bring music to the Summer Concert series, and provide scholarships for students.
