Summer is almost upon us and that means warm relaxing nights outdoors and barbecuing with friends! July 4th celebrations are always a fun staple in summer and it’s coming up before you know it. Jackson, California has some great events going on that weekend and they are sure to be great for the whole family.
Start your July 4th weekend off on Saturday with a Cannonball Run Car Show in nearby town Volcano. This annual car show gets its name from the historic cannon that was used by settlers during the Gold Rush and the Civil War to protect the sacred ground from the feuding pro and anti Union forces. The cannon, thankfully never actually used, can still be seen today in Volcano. Hosted by the Volcano Community Association, the event registration costs $30 for cars and $25 for motorcycles, with registrants receiving a free t-shirt as well. Awards will be given such as best custom, best paint, best interior, best antique, and more. There will also be live music, a raffle poker walk, historical plaquing, food, and an Independence Day Parade!
The celebration continues on Sunday at 5pm in Jackson with the classic Independence Day Fireworks. There will be food, drinks, and games. The fireworks will be shooting off around 9:30 and will end the evening. Within walking distance from the hotel, this event is not to be missed as it is always a great time!
If you have extra time to kill during the weekend, there are numerous tasty restaurants at which to eat. The Jackson Walking Tour is always an option as well and is a great way to get to know this historic city. Jackson prides itself as having some of the richest gold mines in California while also being serene, friendly, and honing small town charm but with beautiful open landscapes.
